Off-season Opportunities

Conditioning

If you haven't yet, it's time to get in gear! From the day tryouts start to our first scrimmage, we have less than 2 weeks. We need to be in shape BEFORE tryouts begin. Many of the girls have been taking advantage of our great resource in Chez, our strength and conditioning coach and we'd like to see even more girls start to get going. As always, it is non-mandatory, but the girls need to be working out somewhere and Chez does a great job of focusing on sport specific exercises.

  • Every Monday and Thursday from 3:15-4:30 (meet on the indoor track)

Playing Opportunities

  • University of Michigan Skills Clinic (Sunday, February 5)
  • Grand Valley Winter Wonder 5 v 5 Tournament (Sunday, February 26)
  • Oakland 5 v 5 Tournament at Pontiac Silverdome (Sunday, March 11)

Hartland hires new JV Coach

In an email to staff, players and parents, dated January 2, 2012, varsity head coach Katie Gutteridge wrote the following:

We went through an interview process to help find a new JV coach that would be a great fit in our program, and I'm excited to announce that Tim Bausack has been officially hired by Jason Reck (athletic director) as the new girls lacrosse JV coach. Tim comes on to the Hartland team after coaching the club Varsity program at Carmen Ainsworth for several years and serving as the coach for the Flint Tropics, an area summer/fall travel team. Tim is US Lacrosse Level 1 certified and has a true passion for the game, coaching, and to keep learning more about the sport. Many of the girls had the opportunity to meet Tim over the summer as he helped to coach one of the tournaments that I was unable to be at. I am confident that Tim will be a great fit for the girls and the program and look forward to working with him.

Welcome to our family, Coach Bausack!

Coach Gutteridge also had this to say about former JV coach, Aaron Skomial:

I can't say thank you enough for all the time and energy Aaron has put into the program over the years and continues to put in now. He was an integral piece in building the program to where it is now, developed great relationships with the girls and families, and we're so lucky to have him use his time and expertise to continue helping girls develop in the off season.

You're awesome "Coach" Sko! Enjoy retirement!

HHS Women's Summer Program Survey

Before the season comes to an end here in just over a month from now, I want to get everyone to start thinking about what they could be doing over the summer to continue their lacrosse skill development. In order to make sure that we have a summer practice program that is adequately geared to the suit the desires of the players and parents supporting the Hartland High School Girls lacrosse program, I want to make sure that there is an avenue available in order to make sure that your feedback and ideas are heard by the coaching staff that will be creating the practice program this year.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by clicking the link below. Any type of feedback would be great! At best, it will take you 5 minutes.

New Photo Gallery Layout

Finally! After extensive "usability testing" by the people that use the site the most (the players) I have finally developed a photo gallery layout that should meet the needs of our wide range of site visitors.

With the new photo gallery layout, you can now quickly scan and page through the thumbnails — like you do in Facebook. You can also click the "Play Slideshow" link and sit back and relax. I have also included a link to the original, hi-res file that is suitable for 4" x 6" prints. Download and print whatever you want!

Note to players: if you want to post these to your Facebook page, you will want to use the original file and let Facebook resize the photo down to their max width (or height) of 720 pixels. The medium-sized photos in the preview window are only 600 pixels max.

I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoy taking them. Go Eagles!

LaxPower.com Ranks Hartland 9th in State

The popular lacrosse web site ranks teams by division and overall. Hartland moved up to a number 6 ranking for Division I schools and 9th overall in the state of Michigan. Click here to see all the rankings

UPDATE: As of Monday, April 19, the site adjusted Hartland's ranking to 11th in the state and 8th in Division I. Not sure how they can rank accurately when some of the teams above us have only posted one game. Hmmm....
